August 15 – A good day at Medieval Mosaic Exhibition

Hi from 1066 – Medieval Mosaic

It was quite a quiet start to the day but then a big group came in all at once. It was a car rally group. Two ladies came up to me and said they had brought the group as they had visited us several years ago in Geraldine. The group were very interested and we all chatted for ages. The ladies remembered The Giant Jersey too which we show people on the computer monitor regularly.

Later in the day, we had an older couple in and they are from Ascott-under-Wychwood, a village nearby. The lady was very knowledgeable about the area and told us about three remains of barrows around the village. Two are on private land so you cannot go to see them but the other can be visited so we will go to see it one evening this week. She also reminded us about the stones moved from a barrow to near the church. We actually went there on 6 January but had forgotten until we saw the photos again.

For the rest of the day, we were quite busy talking to lots of interested people.

We spent the evening packing and sorting our stuff and packing the car as we are moving to a new housesit today. We have really enjoyed living in Shipton-under-Wychwood. It is a nice village and a nice house.
