December 16 – The First Day of our Melton Exhibition

Open to the Public

Hello from 1066 – A Medieval Mosaic

We arrived bright and early and set our merchandise table. Just after 10 am our first visitors to the exhibition arrived. They had walked along the waterfront from Woodbridge, a walk we must do ourselves. Two ladies from the talk in Kirton the other night came which was excellent.

We had a steady stream of people and soon got into the flow of talking to them. We really enjoy all the various stories associated with the Battles of Fulford, Stamford Bridge and Hastings.

Charlie Haylock arrived in the afternoon and kept us entertained with more of his stories. He used to teach special needs children and had some brilliant anecdotes including teaching us how to multiply 6, 7, 8, and 9 x tables on our fingers. A great and useful skill.

A good first day with reasonable numbers considering the posters are not all out yet.
