March 14 – Flowers from Karen

Hi from 1066 – A Medieval Mosaic

A lovely bouquet of flowers arrived from Karen which was a lovely surprise and a delight.

I was watching an episode of QI today which can be very entertaining but today they talked about something called “What3Words“. The whole world has been broken into 3m x 3m squares and each is assigned a unique 3-word address. The idea is that every 3 metre square of the world has a unique address that can be used instead of a postal address. The 3-word addresses are the easiest way to talk about any location, anywhere on the planet, in over 26 languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, German, Turkish, Swedish, Italian, Mongolian, Arabic, Finnish, Polish, Danish, Norwegian, Xhosa, Zulu, Greek, Dutch, Czech, Afrikaans, Bahasa Indonesia, Japanese, Korean, and Thai.

I thought this was such a cool idea and I had to look up some addresses. Our house is “declare.inhaled.commentator” and the shop “dressing.birdbath.walkouts”. How cool is that? I tried putting the three words into google but it didn’t come up with the address so maybe that is a thing of the future. I think it would be great for a geocaching puzzle. I obviously wasn’t the only one who thought so as when I googled it I found several around Christchurch, New Zealand.
