November 30 – An Afternoon in Woodstock, Oxfordshire

Hello from 1066 – A Medieval Mosaic

Another cold day so we only went out for our usual walks with the dogs until later in the afternoon when we had an appointment to see the curator at the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock, just north of Oxford. It is a lovely brand new building behind the Oxfordshire Museum and is very close to Blenheim Palace. As we walked in we were met by the warmth, this would be a nice comfortable place to exhibit. The room Ursula had in mind for our exhibition was a little bit too small so we moved on to the hallway which would be long enough and still wide enough for wheelchair access and for walking down safely. We discussed possible dates and will keep in contact with Ursula about our future plans.

Across the road was the parish church of St Mary Magdalene, Woodstock so we went to have a quick look. It had some rather lovely carving on the stone columns, a beautiful reredos behind the altar and tile work on the floor of the chancel and the sanctity.

On our way home we called into Waitrose to get a chicken to roast as Chris is coming home tonight and I said I would cook her a roast dinner.  We had a lovely dinner and chatted about her holiday in Spain and our week with Jack, Scruffy and Bob the budgie.
